JIEUN YANG
AIA, LEED AP BD+C, CPHC
Jieun Yang is the Founding Principal of Habitat Workshop. Her work explores architecture, infrastructure, and everyday desire through the lens of social, economic, political, and cultural influences. She was selected as the winner of 2008 SOM Prize for her research of post-WWII suburbs in Sweden, France, and Japan. She was most recently the recipient of The Center for Architecture Foundation’s LeBrun Travel Grant for her research in post-Soviet industrial cities and its parallel study of American Rust Belt.
Jieun received a B.A. in architecture from Yale University and an M.Arch from Columbia University. She is a licensed architect in the state of New York, NCARB-certified for licensing in other states, and LEED and Passive House (CPHC) certified. Prior to founding the office, Jieun has worked with SOM, 1100 Architect, and BKSK Architects. She maintains an active academic role as an adjunct assistant professor at CUNY City Tech and a lecturer at Parsons the New School for Design.
